Meet Marci
Marci Rosenberg is a singer, speech-language pathologist, clinical singing voice rehabilitation specialist (SVRS-SLP), and co-author of The Vocal Athlete and its companion workbook, now in their third editions (Plural Publishing). An active performer in her earlier years, Marci earned her BM degree in vocal performance from the Peabody Conservatory. She then completed a research fellowship in the Voice & Speech Lab at the National Institutes of Health before finishing her graduate studies in speech-language pathology at Bowling Green State University.
For 25 years, Marci specialized in rehabilitating injured voices at the University of Michigan Vocal Health Center, nationally recognized among the top 1% for patient care. She continues to serve as the on-site vocal health consultant and singing voice rehabilitation specialist to the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre and Dance in the departments of Musical Theatre, Theatre and Voice.
Marci teaches workshops and lectures nationally and internationally. In addition to her own textbook, The Vocal Athlete, Marci is a featured contributor to several voice pedagogy texts, collaborates on numerous research publications, and serves as guest faculty at the CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute at Shenandoah University.
Marci is also the creator of Training Baby Belters and Beyond, a signature online course combining synchronous and asynchronous learning through integrated lectures and workshops. The course makes complex voice science accessible and approachable, with practical tools readily transferable to the training studio.
Among the first cohort to receive the PAVA-Recognized Vocologist distinction, Marci previously served on the PAVA-RV Committee and currently co-chairs the PAVA Standing Symposium Executive Committee. She is Vice President of the Pan American Vocology Association.
Marci was featured as a voice expert on the award-winning Canadian science documentary series The Nature of Things in the 2024 episode A User’s Guide to the Voice.
She maintains an active private voice studio and consulting practice. Her diverse clients include performers, executives, educators, and voice professionals spanning the boardroom, the Broadway stage, the Metropolitan Opera, and everything in between.
